R&D Support

Get started here

Are you doing work that could qualify as R&D?

We work with two groups of clients — farmers testing new production systems, and food manufacturers and producers who are systematically experimenting to solve real technical problems in their process.

Some of this work may be eligible for the Australian R&D Tax Incentive, but only where there is a genuine technical uncertainty, a structured experiment, and clear records of what was tested and learned.

This is not about claiming R&D for normal farming or routine production.

It is about identifying where you are genuinely developing and testing something new and making sure that work is recognised and documented correctly.

Farmers - Are you changing the way you farm?

We work with farmers who are testing new production systems, improving soil and animal outcomes, reducing input dependence, or transitioning toward regenerative agriculture. We are interested in farmers working on questions such as:

  • Can we reduce synthetic inputs without losing production?
  • Can different feed or grain ratios improve animal performance or reduce costs?
  • Can a novel watering system improve water quality, animal health or survival?
  • Can regenerative grazing improve pasture recovery, soil function or drought resilience?
  • Can we produce more while giving more back to the land?

Food producers and manufacturers — are you solving technical problems in your process?

We work with food manufacturers, producers, and brands who are developing new products, refining production processes, or systematically improving outcomes in areas such as preservation, nutrient retention, or ingredient performance.

We work with producers of real, nutritious whole foods, not with highly processed or synthetic food products.

If you are consistently experimenting to solve a technical problem in your production process, and keeping records of what you have tried and what happened, there may be an R&D pathway worth exploring. We are interested in producers working on questions such as:

  • Can we improve nutrient retention through changes to our production process?
  • Can we develop a shelf-stable product without compromising the integrity of the ingredients?
  • Can we reduce or eliminate a specific input while maintaining product quality and safety?
  • Can we understand why our product performs differently across batches, and systematically address it?

What we help with

We help farmers and food producers clarify whether their project has a genuine R&D pathway.

This may include:

  • identifying the key technical question
  • shaping the project into a structured trial
  • defining what needs to be measured
  • setting up simple records
  • separating normal farming & production from experimental work
  • supporting R&D Tax Incentive documentation

What we do not do

We are not accountants, tax agents or financial advisers.

We do not prepare tax returns, lodge R&D Tax Incentive claims, calculate tax positions, or provide financial advice.

Our role is focused on the science and evidence side of R&D. We help identify the technical question, shape the project, define what needs to be measured, and support the records needed to show what was tested and learned.

We can work with your accountant or tax adviser to make sure they have the scientific and technical information they need to assess and support your claim. Any financial, tax or accounting advice should be provided by your accountant or registered tax adviser.

Is this for you?

We work with farmers and food producers who are genuinely invested in the quality and integrity of what they grow or make. If that is you, we would love to hear from you.

If you are not sure whether your work qualifies, complete the enquiry form and we will let you know. Completing a form does not guarantee eligibility or a successful claim, it simply helps us assess whether your project is worth reviewing further.
